DON McSTARLEY DEAD

On what was one more episode of this seemingly endless war, Don McStarley, one of the most respected mob figures in the underworld was killed by the usual suspect – Don Chariz.

Behind him he leaves a legacy majorly based on diplomacy and mutual respect, an aspect that was recognized even by his own rivals. A founding member of La Cosa Nostra and probably the main figure behind the revival of the west, he will certainly leave a huge gap to fill within the organization that Don Valentine has now inherited.

Seen has the only man capable to match Don Chariz’s force, but yesterday’s events proved that the leader of the Sons and Soldiers is one step ahead of his competition.

The big question in Vegas these days will be figuring out what strategy they will use on their last breath against the mobster who everyone expects to be the next Godfather.

CHARIZ FOR GODFATHER?

There’s no end at sight in what probably is the longest war that the underworld has ever seen. After six months of convulsion within the underworld, the only certainty is that Don Chariz is, step by step, making his way to achieve the top of the hierarchy in the mafia.

Needless to say, such a title would turn him the Boss of all Bosses in America.

After many episodes, his journey seems closer than ever to see its end, since the only thing between him and the rank is the Vegas crime family, known as La Cosa Nostra, led by Don Valentine since the fall of Danny McStarley.

The next following days might be determinant for the disclosure of what is already considered the most epic war of the recent years.

THE NEW YORK QUESTION

Despite their name, Bad Company seems to be in fact the best company there is.

Don Gunny and company have remained neutral during the recent war events, preferring to focus in what seems to be their main mob activity – horses – with members like Canine, Red Priestess and Papillon owning a stable that is definitely a considerable source of income for the New Yorkers.

The question that many mafioso’s are asking themselves these days is whether they will back Vegas in their last attack upon Don Chariz.

This doubt was raised within the underworld when a gangster decided to spread the word about a conversation he sworn having witnessed, taking place at Don Valentine’s massage parlor between him and Don Gunny where the first said to the last man that “Chariz is going to shit his pants when you show up with the likes of Tiffany, Canine, Ghost and them others”.

This information lacks confirmation, but many mobsters believe that this might actually indicate what could be the move Don Valentine his hiding on his sleeve in order to take out his competition.

STRATEGY OR AMATEURISM
article by Charles Baron

To this day the question remains unfolded. Did the west decided on a bad strategy that backfired, or they simply have exposed one of their weaknesses in terms of war – amateurism?

It’s obvious now that they wanted both families out of the picture, Detroit and Miami that is, in order to facilitate their step forward into taking the leadership of the underworld.

But why killing the Dead Men first and then moving towards Don Chariz and not the opposite?

Even if trying to take advantage of events explains part of the decision, they may have felt overconfident about the fire power of Don McStarley and Consiglieri Angelo Mariano. Any decent war Consiglieri would advise their Boss to use the Dead Men to kill Don Chariz first and then make a move against the Detroit family. It would be an easy strategy decision if they cared about looking into the Miami’s career in this war.

Whether is the true side of this story, this shows how many families tend to neglect the fact that strategies are needed to win wars, instead of letting their blood thirst letting trigger happy instincts make the last call when shooting time has come.

Strategy, alongside luck and undying loyalty is what explains Don Chariz is still alive. Whatever critic anyone might throw against Don Chariz, one thing you cannot say about him is that he doesn’t have a good strategy. He’s disciplined enough to wait patiently and to only make a move when he is on the full capabilities of his fight power, ensuring he only goes forward when enemies less expect a move and are worst protected.

What if Vegas had decided to chose a different path on their war moves? Who knows if by now Don Chariz and the Dead Men were not among us by now, and the Vegas family was thriving and assuming the leadership of the underworld.

THE SHORT LIFE OF THE CHICAGO LOCKDOWN

All doubts were answered almost instantaneously after Don McStarley’s death, when the new Boss of the west, Don Valentine lifted the lockdown and clarified that his imposition in Chicago had little to do with his war strategy against his rival, and much to do with his ambitions to run his own business.

It seems destiny shaped him into leading, and whether decision he had made he would necessarily become a boss one way or another, since both paths were handed to him. On one hand he had the city it was offered to him, on the other he had a well established family that was now orphan of a leader.

Maybe because he knew he was the only really option in Vegas, he decided to continue the work of his deceased boss, now fronting the destinies of the Vegas empire.
