As the country hasn't had much news in recent times, a group of like minded individuals got together and thought why not, is it the risk associated with publishing a newspaper? Of course we dabble in some dark worlds, is it the financial requirement needed to pay writers? Yes the necessary dollars are hard to come by and writers need to eat as well, their is no grand plan beyond getting this off the ground, seeing where it goes and having fun while doing it. As a way of generating income to inject cash flow and bring in more writers, we'll be auctioning of distribution of each issue, this way it keeps our own costs minimal and keeps the staff of the newspaper out of the cross-hairs of unhappy mobsters.
Apologies from the team in the late release, with many current events not touched upon. We'll do our best to add them in the next issue but we found it very difficult to find anyone to distribute.
The Existence Of A New York Gang? Family? Grouping?
Written By - The Scarecrow
It had come as a shock to me, Little did I know that their was actually a crew of some sort in operation in our fair Big Apple, until the highly publicized death of Denver mob boss Skippy.
My mailbox had been flooded, the coffee shops talked about nothing else, had Chicago finally struck back over the loss of reputed drug trafficker Wick? It would seem not, sources reported that a meeting had taken place and Chicago leader Rocky Graziano had negotiated a fine settlement for the loss of his soldier. So if not Chicago to strike out at Skippy then who else? The police reports had wanted to bring in small time crook John Moss to speak too.
Ever the diligent reporter that I am I dug deeper into this case. Low and behold New York did have a mob presence, I even went down to the very large sign Moss had hammered into the ground declaring to one and all that the Unknowns were here, a fitting name may I add since even in their home city they were largely unknown due to Moss vacationing frequently in the city of Chicago. I'd asked one source whether the absentee leader was just taking a hands off approach to leading, only to receive the reply. "Hands off? I've had poltergeists with more presence than this guy."
So what called Moss into signing the death warrant on Skippy? It would appear that Silento a gun slinging Captain under Moss had approached Skippy as well as numerous others within our community for a good 'ol fashioned duel. With many others already falling to Silento's powerful gun and his blasé way of advertising that he was seeking it out, you'd think his leader would know something of it, as it turns out that was not the case, or was it perhaps that Moss was only to happy to allow it to continue as long as Silento won?
The more I asked for the tale of John Moss the more the latter seemed to fit, Moss had gathered a reputation of self serving, of an ability to always walk away from trouble, the bodies always fell yet somehow Moss walked away untouched, a charismatic negotiator? Or simply just an informant with a good nose for trouble and high tailing it out as soon as he could.
No doubt this won't be the last time we touch on Moss as the spotlight falls on a man who tried everything he can to be unnoticeable, but a quote from the funeral of Skippy mentioned "trust" being the reason, another mob source was heard laughing manically at this statement "Moss and trust? You shake the guy's hand you better count your fingers afterwards, a man so oily he avoids direct sunlight, for fear of catching fire.
I'll put this question to you readers, was Skippy truly the villain in this story? Was it Skippy who hit a Dallas made man with no auth, over the death of a long dead horse trainer, to then have Detroit finish of the job, to in turn attack that very Detroit family where rising star Corleone made them turn tail and run. A man who again had to clean up the mess of Moss, as Corleone continues to act as enforcer for Moss we here ask him to remember why his family are so young and when it comes to trust.
Jburns was a trusting man.

AN INTERVIEW WITH A SUPERVILLAIN - by Hugh Jass
I managed to catch up America's most feared super villain, Viktor Von Doom, inside his Chicago business. I have to admit, I was slightly worried as to what mood he would be in on the day but didn't let that deter me from trying to get the definite interview. When I began warming him up there was a real reluctance on his part to speak to me. A few finely placed compliments and glasses of wine later he began to open up...
HJ: So, Mr Von Doom is it? Or Doctor? Are you actually a qualified Doctor?
VVD: When you think about it logically... isn't everybody a qualified Doctor?
HJ: I can't say I follow that Mr Doom, how so?
VVD: All men have in them the capacity for greatness. For some men changing a light bulb or carving a kebab are greatness. But for me? I am the Master of Doom. I'm an expert in my field and the World trembles at my fingertips.
Yes I'm a Doctor. Are you asking if I am qualified to cut a man open and perform surgery? No. No I am not, but that's what Halloween Candy Apples™ are for.
HJ: I'm glad we cleared that up Doc. So, before we get into what's it like to be VVD, I know lots of our readers are interested in Super Villainy. Can you explain to any young budding baddies how it is that you came to be America's and indeed the world's most feared Super Villain?
VVD: Ambition my friend. That's all you need. Go for the throat. Piss on compromise.
HJ: Motivational words there from Mr Doom. We'll touch on some current affairs shortly but first, would you mind talking us through a day in the life of Viktor Von Doom...?
VVD: Where do I start? I give a morning report to Rocky to let that tyrant know how business has gone overnight. They generally go well - I've only cried once! After that I sell off some Russian state assets so I can afford the extortionate kick ups demanded by Rocky. Once that's done I generally spend the afternoon rolling around on a bed of hard earned cash.
It's a hard life, but somebody's got to live it.
HJ: Wow. Sounds like you're living the dream there in Chicago, speaking of which, a lot of our readers were caught up in this whole Skippy saga, as right hand man, what do you think about the way that whole thing went down, starting with him being linked to the death of a Chicago button man?
*At this point Viktor began shuffling in his chair somewhat. He'd relaxed quite a bit leading up to this question but his facial expression was no longer one of comfort.
VVD: Play time over, eh? I'd sum up the Skippy incident with a simple word; regretful. The kid had it all. From humble beginnings to becoming a leader of a city. Sure it was only Denver, but Denver is a stepping stone as Wesley and Vinny have shown.
Skippy had it all.. and he fucked it. Rocky is a businessman first and foremost. Money talks. Clipping a Made guy is as serious as it comes but Wick was on the way out. Drug induced coma. Nothing could be done for him, so we were lenient. Unfortunately, he didn't realise how good he had it and got himself killed a couple of days later. Problem solved without getting blood under my fingernails.
HJ: Lovely stuff!! Can I press you on what you thought of Detroit and New York's reasons for clipping him? I understand if you'd rather not comment of course.
VVD: It's not for me to say. I'm sure they had their reasons. Good reasons at that. Mr Moss in particular has shown himself to be decisive when it comes to removing those who are bad for business and it was his Captain who died in the unauthorised duel.
HJ: I hear you Doc, loud and clear. I have to say, I'm slightly disappointed that you are speaking in the first person all the time, I quite enjoy it when you switch to the third...
VVD: This is going national right? Doom must take himself seriously and not slip up! When Rocky spoke to the Radio he was a man of class and distinction. I, Viktor the Master of Doom must also keep up appearances!
HJ: That's more like it! This is what the readers are gonna pay good money for! Well it's our first issue so whilst we hope it goes national we'll have to see how things go...anyway...The country has been in a state of peace for some time now. I guess that's something that you and the boys in Chicago are pretty pleased about?
VVD: As I am sure you understand I cannot just discuss family matters in the public domain. But yes, Chicago are happy. Business is booming.
HJ: Of course Doc. I don't want to take up too much more of your time so last couple of questions.
What do you think about the current spate of G men dying? Rumour has it that they've been given a shoot to kill policy. My sources on the inside tell me that both Tricky and Michael Corleone are marked men. Are Chicago taking extra precautions?
VVD: Chicago are not concerned. We have an uneasy truce with the federal agents. They benefit more than most when it comes to Rocky Graziano and his Bandits.
HJ: Very well.
Last question as I know you're a busy man Viktor.
Does Rocky really expect you to continue in your current role given your penchant for plotting to take over the world? Surely sooner or later you will leave this life behind and set up base on the moon or something?
VVD: Chicago is my past, present and future.
The only thing I plan to do is stop the spread of the LA infidels.
*After uttering his answer to my final question Viktor slammed his fast down on the table with extreme force, solidifying his final point. He then proceeded to remove his pants and jacket, mentioning something about help being a two way street and that it was time for me to "do my part". I made my excuses and left hastily.
I found Viktor to be a charming yet fearsome man. This reporter will watch with interest as he continues to rise through the ranks, perhaps catching up with him again in a few months should he be fortunate enough to still be around...
MAGNIFICENT SIX
By Connie Lingus
The upper echelons of this fair United States are in a panic, if someone can get to a Director of the FBN then just about anyone can be gotten too.
Director Brooks Church a family man from the Windy City had been having a hallowed career up until that fateful 9am morning in Detroit gunned down, he was apparently up north to run his careful eye over the rising wave of mob activity instituted by the Tyrants of Detroit, headed up by one Michael Corleone.
Corleone a hitter with a fearsome reputation owing to the fact that in the infancy of his family he held back the shooters of numerous families after his own trusted confidante had leaked a fake plan. This was a mobster tempered with fire, unbreakable they said as he turned back The Unknowns and The Riot Club, ultimately it led to a ceasefire and Corleone went back to rebuilding the family that he had lost.
Maybe it was those early days of gun slinging that brought on the reckless persona we see today or the loss of all those family members, but Corleone has seemed to wage a one man mission on the law enforcement of the FBN. Charges can never stick, as the bodies pile up and witnesses disappear.
So why this article? It's a prestigious occasion within the mob when one finally lands such a high profile kill, you enter a small black national book that boasts revered names, none more so than ex Tempest hitter Martin Willoughby himself, the first to claim such a head, followed by another hard hitting New Yorker in Leo Pontecorvo, the third name to enter the book was the flamboyant and eternal nemesis of Dodd's that pesky Russian Vladimir with such of a prestigious cast of hitters you may wonder how W.T.S could fall but it seems to be a poisoned chalice gaining the head of a director as we begin to list the other prestigious names.
Cole was the next man to join such monumental company, like Corleone was a hard hitting youth, always pushing himself ever on, but again the curse of the Director struck and their was a sorry tale as he sought to push himself too much, taking on one foe to many in a reckless search for legend, only to forget a one man army against the masses, no matter the skill the never ending tide of the sea will always win over the lone rock.
Which takes us to Corleone's predecessor in the book, Frankie "The General" Avaya, many of our readers will know this man's tale, as nailed on for Godfather as was to be expected, only for tragedy to strike yet again.
A common thing brings every single entrant of the list together. The sorry demise of each with only Cole himself choosing the circumstance of his own end, but each death was as systematically brutal as the lives these men led.
So has Michael Corleone now peaked? Or will he brush off the curse like he has all other challenges to his reign so far, one thing is clear the man who takes down a Director is marked not only by the FBN and all law enforcement, but also keenly watched by the mob community, ever wary of the increasing reputation and the damage that pistol could unleash.
We'll certainly be following it closely, pad & pencil in hand.
